The GSS cIRcle Open Scholar Award encourages graduate students at UBC Vancouver to showcase their non-thesis work to community partners and industry leaders and make it openly available in cIRcle, UBC’s Digital Repository.
GSS Emergency Fund
Concerns about finances and financial need are main causes of stress for graduate students at UBC. The GSS Emergency Fund is in place to ensure that students who are near finishing are able to complete their studies. Applications for this fund are confidential and mediated through GSS Advocacy Services.
AMS/GSS Health Plan Premium Assistance Fund
Based on financial needs, partial or full reimbursement of the AMS/GSS Health & Dental Plan fee is available from the AMS and GSS through the AMS/GSS Health Plan Premium Assistance Fund.
The Graduate Student Society supports initiatives that enrich graduate student life and is a proud sponsor of the Three Minute Thesis (3MT).
3MT is an academic competition that assists current graduate students with fostering effective presentation and communication skills. Participants have just three minutes to explain the breadth and significance of their research project to a non-specialist audience. Contact your department to participate.
In 2012, over 30 universities across Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and the South Pacific participated in this fun, highly informative and very entertaining event. UBC is one of the first Universities in North America to host a 3MT competition.
