Volunteer and Become a GSS Rep on AMS Council

Posted: August 3, 2017

Provide a strong voice for graduate students in the coming academic year! We are looking for 4 volunteers to represent fellow graduate students as GSS Representatives to the AMS Council in September 2017 – August 2018.

AMS Council meetings are held every second Wednesday evening from 6-10pm at the Nest during the school year, with less frequent meetings in summer. An AMS Council orientation/retreat is being planned for September 9/10 and has been described as “pretty much mandatory”; attendance for this session is strongly encouraged.

The AMS is the overarching student society at UBC Vancouver, covering many student services, the U-pass, student clubs, management of the Nest and advocacy.

How to Apply

  • Attend the next monthly GSS Council meeting – Thu. August 17, 5:30pm, Michael Kingsmill Forum (4/F at The Nest)
  • Make a 250-word speech or presentation on your motivation at the Council meeting

Appointments will be elected by the GSS Council at the same meeting.
