Want to get involved with UBC and your community? The GSS is hiring for a temporary, part-time Transit Plebiscite Coordinator to support our 2015 Metro Vancouver Transportation and Transit Plebiscite campaign.

Job Description

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Primary duty is to provide regular weekly working hours at various locations accessible to graduate students that are interested in registering for the transit plebiscite (UBC, VGH)
  • Provide support during the transit plebiscite campaign period
  • Research information not easily accessible to graduate students, regarding metro Vancouver transit plans, elections BC registration process
  • Provide referrals to relevant stakeholders (elections BC or GSS VP Academic & External Affairs)
  • Regularly check email and voicemail, and respond in a timely manner
  • Help to coordinate campaign volunteers
  • Maintain a record-keeping mechanism for registered students
  • Be proactive with approaches on how to reach out to students, and educate them about the upcoming plebiscite
  • Disseminate information materials to graduate students both on paper and online
  • Provide support and attend coordination meetings with the GSS VP Academic & External Affairs every other week
  • Regularly report to VP Academic & External Affairs
  • Write a summary report on the activities conducted, due 2 weeks prior to project completion

Remuneration: This position is paid as an honorarium, based on 10 hours a week, equivalent to $583.33 monthly. This position is intended to last for approximately 3.5 months
