The President’s role includes many important tasks including being public face of the GSS and the Spokesperson for Council and the Society. This involves important leadership responsibilities including managing the Executive Team to make sure the Society’s leadership is effective, and chairing GSS Council. You’ll also be working closely with Council to deliver the Society’s goals in support of our Strategic Plan. The President is paid $16,508.40 for their term of work.
The Vice President of Students is responsible for creating social, recreational, and educational programs for graduate students. You’ll be working with our network of Affiliated Organisations to develop events and to understand what programs grad students want. You’re also responsible for managing and developing relationships with our AO’s and helping then apply for the GSS Event Fund to support their own events and programs. The Vice President Students is paid $13,155.36 for their term of work.
The Vice President External Relations leads the Society’ relationships with external stakeholders. You’ll be responsible for lobbying local, municipal, provincial, and federal governments about the issues that matter to graduate students and highlighting the value of graduate education to Canada. You’ll also be required to build links with other external stakeholders, including provincial or national student groups, to amplify the GSS voice. The Vice President External Relations is paid $13,155.36 for their term of work.
The Vice President of Academic Affairs is responsible for representing graduate students to campus partners, including the University Administration, Faculty Association, Graduate Council, and teaching assistants. You’ll be working to ensure graduate student concerns on issues like funding, academic freedom, and equity are heard and that graduate students are represented in University decision making. You’ll also be responsible for managing our Peer Support service to ensure grad students can get help dealing with problems they encounter. The Vice President Academic Affairs is paid $13,155.36 for their term of work.
