Research Commons

UBC Library Research Commons offers many services for graduate students to help them excel in their studies, such as workshops and 1-on-1 consultations that provide more personalized assistance. These services are delivered by graduate student peer instructors, subject specialist librarians, and campus collaborators; and are useful for graduate students from all disciplines.

Financial Assistance

The GSS and UBC offers and administers many programs that provide financial help to graduate students.

GSS Awards & Aids — various awards and funds for graduate students at UBC Vancouver.

Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral StudiesMerit-based graduate awards at UBC Vancouver. Graduate Awards manages a number of award competitions each year and administers payment of both internally- and externally-funded awards.

Graduate Student Centre

There are two eateries at the Thea Koerner House Graduate Student Centre:

KoernerLogo02 Koerner’s Pub: Awesome pub out at UBC. Amazing garden patios, epic food, live music & craft beer. The main entrance is on West Mall – the driveway before you hit NW Marine Drive.


Seedlings: A cafe and eatery specializing in raw, vegan, and healthy vegetarian cuisine, all of which is organic, as locally sourced as is feasible, and fair-trade (when applicable). In addition to specialized coffees such as lattes and cappuccinos, they offer a wide selection of artisan teas. Penthouse level or top floor of the building. Open during Winter Term 1 & 2.
