The University of British Columbia Institute of Asian Research is sending
out a call for papers for its annual graduate student conference. We greatly
appreciate your help in distributing this message to your graduate students.

*The Call*
The 2010 Asia Pacific Policy Graduate Symposium at UBC (April 2nd - 4th),
「Conceiving Asia Pacific: The Policy Kaleidoscope〠will bring the academic
and professional communities together to discuss a range of policy-relevant
issues. This is a general call for graduate students from relevant
disciplines to act as:
1. Paper presenters for the symposium
2. Discussants on the presented papers
The symposium is interested in building discussion on Asia Pacific
policy-relevant issues. Students in all fields are encouraged to demonstrate
the policy significance of their work.
The proceedings of the conference will be published in the Journal of the
College for Interdisciplinary Studies at UBC. Presented papers will be
entered into the review process for publication.
Possible topics include, (but are not limited to):
-Trade, Infrastructure, Gateway Initiatives
-Environment and Policy
-Technology and New Media
-Traditional and Economic Security
-Urbanism and the Rise of Cities
-Democratization
-Human Rights and Governance
-Non-Traditional Security
-Social Change, Development
-Public and Health Policy
-Ethics and Morality
-Education
-Energy and Resource Management
-Ethnicity and Nationalism
-Social Work
-Police and Militarism

Those interested in participating, either as presenter or discussant, should
complete the attached submission form (download here:

iar.conference@gmail.com. The application deadline has been extended to
February 1st. Decisions will be made by the middle of February.
