The results from the Graduate Student Society’s Student Satisfaction Survey 2018-2019 were clear. Stipends and Scholarships are the issue that you want GSS to make its advocacy priority. The survey shows that 54% of graduate students are dissatisfied towards the amount of funding they receive, while 80% of the respondents indicated they were dissatisfied by the cost of living.
The GSS recognizes that advocating for affordable education at the graduate level cannot take on a one-fit-all approach. Therefore these focus groups will provide course based graduate students a safe and secure forum to express their challenges within these realms of affordability. We (GSS) hope to use the data gathered to help us evaluate the gravity of these affordability issues and use this to drive our advocacy efforts and asks.
Sign up for a focus group at the AMS Nest, scheduled on the 11th, 13th and 25th of February, to help us advocate for graduate student funding.
Note: Each focus group would run for an hour with coffee and cookies provided to participants. All responses will remain anonymous for the purpose of the study alone.
*Please only RSVP for one focus group.
