Through evidence-based approaches that include hands-on learning, group discussions (and more!) each session will give you a different way to think about and explore who you are right now, while also preparing you to make decisions in the future and feel more hopeful about the life you want to lead.

Class Schedule:

Dates: May 31- June 28 (Wednesdays, 5 Sessions)

Time: 5:30-6:30pm

Location: Online (Zoom link will be provided to participants)

Session Outline:

Week 1 (May 31, 2023): Introduction to Career Development

Engage in a series of activities that will give you the skills you need to understand yourself better and engage with the people around you in more meaningful ways. Learn to take a more holistic approach to career-decision making and the components that contribute to your own career development.

Week 2 (June 7, 2023): Clarifying Purpose

Clarify who you are by identifying your top skills and hidden strengths through real-life experiences and storytelling. As you connect and engage with your cohort, you will learn to clarify and talk about your own strengths, while identifying the strengths and skills of the people around you in both work and life settings.

Week 3 (June 14, 2023): Asynchronous Coursework & Small Group Discussion

Connect with the system you’re in, and gain insight into who you are and how you engage in the world around you. Reflect on your career journey using metaphor and storytelling strategies, participating in small group discussions while also beginning to look ahead to future possibilities.

Week 4 (June 21, 2023): Implementing and Building Connections

Explore the world you’re in, how your personal style impacts the decisions you make, and the ways you connect with the people around you. Develop your interpersonal range and explore who you and how others view you from a strengths-based perspective.

Week 5 (June 28, 2023): Career Decision-Making and Next Steps

Learn to identify workplace values, moving beyond naming a job to understanding the qualities you need in place to do the work you love. Begin identifying next steps, and possibilities to explore, and develop a plan to put learning into action.

One-on-One Coaching Session: Each participant has the opportunity to receive a complimentary one-on-one coaching session with our Career Coach. The coaching session will support the participant in exploring their career and life decision-making process. At the end of the program, you will be asked to write a short reflection paper.

Monthly GSS Coaching Gathering: Each participant has the opportunity to join a monthly group coaching session with the GSS Coaching Community to learn, share and grow together with their peers in furthering and enhancing their personal and professional growth.
