Summer Softball

he annual GSS Softball League is back!

Gather your teammates and dig out your gloves because registration opens on April 29th. Teams must consist of at least 9 athletes, 2 of the opposite gender in the field at all times. Registration is open to all UBC Graduate Students with each team allowed 3 “imports” total of non-graduate students – family, undergrads, faculty, etc. Teams are capped at 25 athletes. Please note you must register with a team, we do not place individuals on teams. If you are looking for a team, please sign up here

Captains – looking for extra people to fill out your roster? Check the Individual Player List and contact potential players!

How to register? Click on “TEAM” and create your team name and password and share it with your team mates. They will have to input the team name and password in order to register invidivually (free). Once the team is registered, the captain will have to pay for the 1 time registration fee.

*Games will begin on June 5th at the UNA Nobel Softball Diamond between 4:00 and 9:00pm. Starting August, the games will start at 3:00 pm and go until 8:00pm

*A full season schedule will be sent out to everyone after the Captain’s Meeting (TBD).

*Each team has to pick a team colour and have athletes provide their own shirts. 

*Please note that the team fee must only be paid once by the Team Captain – individuals must complete their registration separately

*Teams are NOT considered registered until the Team Registration Fee has been paid!

*Note that if you purchase your ticket online and then request a refund, you will not receive the Eventbrite fee back.

Fall 2019- French 101 Class (Beginner)

Date: Tuesdays, September 17 – November 26, 2019 (10 sessions)

Note: No class on Oct 29

Location: GSS Loft Meeting Room at the AMS Nest (4th floor)

Beginner French is a great opportunity to learn basic comprehension, communication and writing skills. The class is tailored to fit the interests, levels and needs of graduate students enrolled. Students will have the chance to partake in activities that reinforce vocabulary and grammatical structures as well as cultural understandings of the francophone world. By the end of the course, students will be able to introduce themselves, ask questions, talk about their likes and dislikes and speak in present tense and future tense. Emphasis will be on oral expression. In addition, students will be given authentic materials and resources to further develop their French language skills.

Planning to apply for Permanent Residence in Canada? Boosting your French proficiency may help you boost your application!
