GSS Coaching

About this event

The GSS Graduate Coaching program aims to equip graduate students with coaching frameworks and effective conversational skills. Through practice, in and outside of the classroom, participants will develop their coach-like presence and learn to incorporate these skills into their daily conversations in an informal manner. As the quality of their conversations improve, along with their relationships with their peers and others, participants will be better equipped to achieve their professional goals.

Session Outline:

  • Session 1: Introduction to Coaching
  • Session 2: Coaching Foundation: A simple framework
  • Session 3: Coaching Foundation: Core Coaching Skills
  • Session 4: Practice in Coaching Lab
  • Session 5: Practice in Peer Coaching Triangle
  • Session 6: Wrap-up

Bonus:

Each participant has the opportunity to receive a complimentary one-on-one coaching session with one of the lead coaches about a topic(s) of their choice. The coaching session will support the participant with the challenge that they are facing and also, allow them to gain first-hand experience as a coachee. At the end of the program you will be asked to write a short reflection paper.

Each participant has the opportunity to join a monthly group coaching session with the GSS Coaching Community to learn, share and grow together with their peers in furthering and enhancing their coaching skills.
