We promote, and protect our members academic, social and cultural interests. Thea Koerner House, the home of the Society, has been the center of graduate student life on campus since it was opened in 1962.We represent the 10,000 grad students at UBC, bringing key issues to the university and to government to improve the grad student experience.Whether you’re looking for academic, personal, or career support during your degree, we help ensure you get the most out of your time at UBC.Building community is key. We offer a host of events, classes, and other opportunities year-round to connect with grad students across campus.We are your Graduate Student Society –
run by graduate students, for graduate students.Our executive team of 5 graduate students, together with the GSS council, committees, and GSS staff, lead the society to provide support, resources, political advocacy and social events to connect grad students across campus with each other, the university, and with government.We strive to better represent graduate students’ academic needs and improve their opportunities across campus. Our initiative to use data-driven strategies allows us to create relevant, targeted changes and initiatives that match the current priorities of our grad community.We are committed to strengthening graduate students’ wellbeing through increased education and access to mental health resources, ensuring continued health coverage with the GSS/AMS Health & Dental Plan, and promoting safe and supportive work environments for all.We work to best serve our grad student community by optimizing how we run as an organization. Our focus on ensuring our society runs smoothly and efficiently has included implementing more comprehensive training, standardization, and archiving of the Society’s documents and content.
