  • Support letter, from any academic or non-academic UBC office

    Note: The supporter needs to have sufficient knowledge of the unexpected financial hardship of applicant

  • Letter of Enrolment, showing enrollment for the current semester

  • Support documentation

    If applying under • Housing (Living Expenses): rental contract, moving receipts or other relevant expenses.
    • Medical/Dental: Relevant documentation or receipts of expenses.
    • Details of the amount claimed in financial hardship
    • Emergency Issues, Crisis and/or Displacement: Passport photocopy confirming ties to a country experiencing war or unrest, proof of refugee status in Canada, or other relevant documents demonstrating your situation.

1. Financial Challenges related to Housing (Living Expenses): Financial support for housing-related expenses, including rent, utilities, and essential living costs, for individuals facing financial hardship.

  • If applying under this category, please provide a copy of your rental contract(s) and any other relevant documentation or receipts that show your unexpected expenses.

2. Financial Challenges related to Medical/Dental: Financial support for healthcare services and prescribed medications not covered under the Medical Services Plan (MSP), Pharmacare, or the AMS/GSS Health and Dental Plan. This assistance is intended to help individuals access essential physical and mental health care, dental care, and necessary treatments that would otherwise be financially prohibitive.

  • If applying under this category, please provide any relevant documentation or receipt that shows your unexpected expenses.

3. Financial Challenges related to Emergency Issues, Crisis and/or Displacement: Support for individuals affected by crises, including but not limited to armed conflicts, civil unrest, political instability, gang violence, war, natural disasters, and environmental emergencies. Assistance addresses both emotional and mental distress, as well as financial insecurity.

  • If applying under this category, please provide, if available, documentation supporting your circumstances. This may include a passport confirming ties to a country experiencing war or unrest, proof of refugee status in Canada, or other relevant documents demonstrating your situation.
  • If you send a passport photocopy, please redact all information except your picture, full name and country of origin.
