GSS Financial Aid (GSFA) - Waitlist

Due to high demand, our financial aid budget for this period has been fully spent. The GSFA is now closed to new applications. We know this is difficult news, and we are actively looking for ways to secure more funding for the future.

Additional Funding Resources

If you do not meet the eligibility requirements for GSFA or need additional support, you may also explore the following resources available to UBC graduate students:

CUPE 2278 Hardship, Health, and Wellbeing Fund

Provides financial assistance to CUPE 2278 members facing unforeseen hardship, including health, wellness, and emergency needs. Open to teaching assistants, markers, and sessional instructors covered by the CUPE 2278 collective agreement.

UBC Enrolment Services Emergency Funding

Offers short-term financial assistance to students experiencing unexpected financial distress due to emergencies or unanticipated events.

(These resources are managed independently of GSS and have separate eligibility requirements and application processes.)

Why Fill Out the Form Below?

While we cannot process new financial aid applications or disburse funds right now, we strongly encourage you to fill out the Waitlist Form below.

Submitting your information allows the GSS to:

  • Track the true scale of student need: We use this anonymized data to advocate for greater financial support from the university and provincial governments.

  • Follow up with you: If additional funds become available, or if a new application cycle opens, we will use this list to notify you immediately.

Please note: Submitting this form does not guarantee future funding, nor does it constitute a formal application. Please do not email our Advocacy Coordinators to request GSFA funds at this time, as they do not have access to additional emergency capital.
