Policy Assistant

Summary

The Graduate Student Society (GSS) at UBC Vancouver is a student-led organization dedicated to enriching the academic, professional, and personal lives of over 10,000 graduate students. Through advocacy, financial aid, wellness programs, and community-building events, the GSS ensures that graduate students are supported, heard, and connected.

As part of the Graduate Student Society, you will play an important role in providing a voice for the UBC graduate student community on critical topics like finance, academics, housing, and harassment. The Society advocates for the rights of graduate students on campus and directly to provincial and federal governments. This role offers an immersive experience into each of these distinct aspects of our advocacy and research work.

The Policy Assistant works under the joint supervision of the VP University & Academic Affairs and the VP External. You will research and develop the GSS’s policy platform while helping establish strong links between the GSS, campus leaders, and external policymakers.
